    Assistant Professor – School Counselor Education

    NYIT’s School of Education invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenure track position at the assistant or associate rank in School Counselor Education. 

     

    Qualifications: an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited institution,  evidence of a developing research and publication record, ability to work with diverse student populations, a strong commitment to good teaching, experience as school counselor, a collaborative collegial disposition, interest in working with school/agency partners, familiarity with Transformed School Counseling, the ASCA National Model, and CACREP 2009 standards, and experience with instructional technology (Internet, instructional software, Blackboard, or other courseware).   

     

    The NYIT School Counseling Program prepares school counseling candidates to be educational leaders, social justice advocates, and system change agents with an emphasis on working in urban and suburban diverse settings. Coursework is designed especially for school counselor preparation and the faculty is committed to pedagogical innovation, strong partnerships with NYC and suburban school counselors, working with underserved and underrepresented Pre-k through 12 student populations, and educational equity.

    Assistant Professor, Counselor Education

    The Counselor Education Department at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh invites applications for a full time, tenure track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education beginning August 2012.

    Responsibilities include: The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching core and specialized courses in CACREP-accredited graduate programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Student Affairs Counseling.  Responsibilities consistent with the role of faculty member include student advisement, curriculum and program development, committee work, scholarly activity, service (department, college, community and profession), active participation in all program activities including admissions, accreditation, community outreach, and facilitating and maintaining program integrity.

    Teaching responsibilities may include such courses and or topics as gerontological counseling, lifespan development, trauma/crisis/disaster response counseling, social justice, GLBT, psychopharmacology, and psychopathology, and courses in the clinical sequence such as counseling skills, pre-practicum, practicum, and internship and other courses that fit program needs and individual competencies.

    Required Qualifications: Doctorate degree in counselor education by appointment date; teaching experience in theory and practice of counseling; teaching in areas that reflect knowledge of the 8 CACREP core competency areas; experience in clinical supervision; experience in counseling clinical practice; and evidence of potential to establish and implement a scholarly research agenda.

    Preferred Qualifications:  Doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program; teaching and experience working with diverse cultural groups; professional identity and commitment to counselor education (i.e., participation in ACA and/or its divisions); experience coordinating and directing an on-site counseling clinic; New York State license eligible; evidence of collaboration with counseling practitioners within the community and professional organizations.

    Assistant Professor for Department of Counseling

    Indiana University of Pennsylvania welcomes applications for a nine-month, Assistant Professor, tenure-track position in the Department of Counseling, beginning in August 2012.  The Department offers Master’s degrees with tracks in School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. A commitment to excellence in graduate education is essential.  The counseling programs in this department (12 full-time faculty) are CACREP-accredited and marked by a supportive, collegial culture.  We are the first Counselor Education program in the nation to utilize Landro technology in our state-of-the-art digital training facility.  In addition, the Department houses a Center for Counselor Training and Services that provides regional professional training workshops. The Department of Counseling has also been honored as an Outstanding Counselor Education and Preparation Program (2003 and 2010) by the Pennsylvania Counseling Association.

    Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
    The Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) and the Colleges of Education, Health and Human Development, and the Liberal Arts announce 3-4 open rank tenure track positions aimed at building on Penn State’s existing strengths in innovative and interdisciplinary social science research. Much research in the social and behavioral sciences at Penn State focuses upon the development and application of novel research approaches, and future advances will rely on new methods in research design, measurement, data collection and data analysis that can capture the complexities of human and social systems. Penn State has substantial capacity in many areas of research methods, such as expertise in the quantitative analysis of demographic and social change within the Population Research Institute (PRI), in prevention methods within the Methodology Center, in educational program evaluation in the Training in Education Sciences (TIES) program, in survey methodologies within the Survey Research Center, and in spatial analysis within PRI/SSRI’s Geographic Information Analysis core. Penn State faculty are also engaged in cross campus, interdisciplinary collaborations to develop new methods in areas including, but not limited to, the integration of biomarker and behavioral data, analysis of neuro-imaging data, social network data collection and analysis, and person-intensive dynamic and ambulatory research design, data collection, and analysis.
    To capitalize on these strengths and foster new synergies, we seek colleagues with exceptional records of interdisciplinary collaborative research. We anticipate that the most promising candidates will be at the Associate or Professor levels and have established records of developing and/or applying novel research methods in their work.
